Each poster is divided into “Before,” “During,” and “After” sections, making it easy for children to understand the actions they should take at each stage.
Fire & Smoke Preparedness
Our fire safety poster uses vibrant colors and relatable Caribbean characters to teach children essential actions like:
- Having a meeting spot outside
- Practising crawling low under smoke
- Knowing how to stop, drop, and roll
- Getting out of the house quickly and staying low to the ground
- Staying away from home until firefighters say it’s safe
Earthquake Preparedness
Our earthquake preparedness poster uses calming green colors and clear illustrations to teach children vital actions like:
- Practicing “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”
- Securing heavy furniture
- Making an emergency kit
- Taking cover under a sturdy table
- Staying away from windows and heavy objects
- Moving to an open area if outside
Flood and Strong Winds Preparedness
Our flood and storm preparedness poster uses blue tones and relatable scenarios to teach children important steps like:
- Staying tuned to weather updates
- Packing a small bag with essentials
- Creating a family plan
- Staying inside away from windows during storms
- Walking carefully if evacuation is necessary
- Being careful around damaged areas after the event

Our comprehensive Emergency Preparedness Guide for Kids provides in -depth information about different types of emergencies and detailed instructions for how to prepare and respond. The guide includes:
- Definitions of different types of disasters
- Checklists for emergency kits
- Instructions for creating family emergency plans
- Safety procedures for each type of emergency
- Contact information for emergency services
- Practice activities for children
Available in Spanish, Kreyol, and English, this guide serves as an essential resource for schools and families in coastal communities.
Educational Video
Our educational video brings disaster preparedness concepts to life through engaging narration and visual
demonstrations. Created specifically for school-age children in Caribbean contexts, the video complements
our printed materials and classroom activities. The subtitles are available in English and Kreyol.
Informational Brochures
Our colorful and accessible brochures provide quick reference information about disaster preparedness that students can take home to share with their families. These brochures were designed to:
- Reinforce key safety concepts learned during the training sessions
- Provide families with essential information about local emergency services
- Explain the “Before, During, and After” approach to different types of emergencies
Over 3,000 brochures were distributed to students across all 11 participating schools, helping to extend the project’s reach beyond the classroom.
