About Us
IDRASTICC - Increasing Disaster Risk Awareness through Strategic Training in Coastal Communities
We aims to reduce vulnerability and build resilience in communities most affected by climate change in the Dominican Republic. By developing age-appropriate, culturally sensitive educational materials and collaborating with local emergency response institutions, we empower children and school communities to prepare for and respond to disasters effectively.
IDRASTICC
One of my earliest memories growing up in San Pedro de Macorís is of a hurricane that devastated my community when I was five. That feeling of confusion and powerlessness stayed with me and my sisters throughout our childhood. Years later, learning that nine out of ten children in Latin America and the Caribbean experience multiple climate shocks, I realized my experience wasn't unique—it was part of a cycle that needed to be broken. This realization sparked the idea for IDRASTICC. What began as a personal mission to prevent other children from feeling that same vulnerability has become a comprehensive disaster preparedness program reaching thousands of students across the Dominican Republic
